California. We are a research and engineering firm dedicated to
providing technology analysis and software solutions to military,
medical, and security sectors. Our staff have provided contract
services to the US Department of Defense, major prime contractors, and
publicly owned civilian corporations.
Dr. Berta A. Sandberg
Founder and President
Dr. Sandberg received her B.S. degrees in
Applied Math and Engineering & Applied Science from Caltech. She
received her Ph.D in Math from UCLA. Her thesis title was "Active
Contour Segmentation of Multi-channel Images." She has over 12 years
of experience in computational mathematics, with emphasis on image
segmentation and signal processing using differential
equations. Dr. Sandberg has worked on the intercept problem for the
MDA as the PI on the MDA STTR Phase I and Phase II titled: Target
Scene Resolution and Calibration Using Innovative Region Based Active
Contour Techniques - PTHH. Other experience includes working with
radiologists at UCLA on a Decision Architecture for treatment of
cancers, and using image processing techniques for X-ray images to
perform Non-Destructive Inspection of aircraft. Dr. Sandberg has
published a number of technical papers related to image processing.

Arthur D. Werner
Vice President of Technology
Lieutenant Colonel, USAF (Ret.)
Lt Col Werner is a Vice President of Technology at Adel Research, Inc. He has broad military operational and technical experience. He also has an extensive civilian engineering background. He graduated from the University of Denver with B.S. in Industrial Engineering. Upon graduation he attended Officer Training School and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the USAF. He is a graduate of Squadron Officers School and Air Command and Staff College, professional military schools. Lt Col Werner held command, operational and technical positions during his military career. He retired from the Air Force and began a second career in the aerospace industry working as a systems engineer, operational analyst, and project manager. He has worked on a number of important defense programs including Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD), Ground Based Midcourse (GMD); Boost-Phase Kinetic Energy Interceptor - Terrestrial (KEI-T); Arsenal Ship, DD-21; DD-X; and Sea-Based X-Band Radar (SBX). He played a major role in the design and development of the Venezuelan Air Defense System and the Bahrain Surface Surveillance System. He was project engineer for the Modular Operations Center (MOC) and Air Support Operations Center (ASOC) and Anti-Radiation Decoy (ARM-D) projects. He worked in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, China (PRC), Venezuela, and Ecuador. He has received numerous military and civilian awards during his career and has published a number of technical papers and reports in both technical and professional military journals. Lt Col Werner is a member of the Air Force Association, the Military Officers Association and the Naval Surface Fire Support Organization. |
